Our Fire Blight Control service helps manage this highly contagious disease in trees like Pears and Crabapples. While it can’t be eliminated, we suppress symptoms with a series of four spring fungicide and bactericide treatments, starting before bud break. We also treat related issues like rust, scab, and leaf spot, and may recommend growth regulators to help trees better cope with stress.
What is Fire Blight?
Fire Blight is a contagious disease that commonly affects trees such as Pears and Crabapples, as well as other plants in the Rosaceae family. Unfortunately, once the pathogen is present, it cannot be eradicated. However, our program aims to suppress visible symptoms and prolong the overall viability of affected trees. We do this by administering a series of 4 fungicide/bactericide treatments that must begin in early spring, prior to bud break.
In addition, we also address other foliar fungus issues on these trees such as rust, apple scab and leaf spot. Along with these treatments we may recommend a soil-drench growth regulator to further improve the trees ability to withstand these stress factors.
